Kohel Power Equipment, Inc. offers sales, parts, shop and mobile services for John Deere, Woods, Meyers, Stihl and Unverferth equipment for commercial, consumer and agricultural purposes. The four locations offer different sales and services based upon the target market of the area.
John Kohel (Jack) and Elmaurice Kohel (Pudge) opened their farm implement business in 1968 with 5 employees. Five years later, the work force had doubled but a December fire destroyed their building and products. They moved to temporary facilities until a new building on Highway SS between Cameron and Rice Lake could be constructed. Over the next 20 years, the workforce grew to 30 and several additions were built. Over the 34 plus years, Jack and Pudge have built the business into the leading equipment retailer it is today.
In 1990, the Kohels opened Kohel Power Center in Eau Claire, selling John Deere commercial lawn and garden equipment. They also sell and service the complete line of Stihl handheld equipment, Woods tractor attachments. They moved into a new facility in 1998 to better server the people of the Eau Claire. This location employs 10 people.
During 2001 the company’s name was changed to Kohel Power Equipment, Inc. (KPE). In August of that year, they purchased the former Morrison Implement in Chippewa Falls. The Chippewa Falls location has over 45 years of experience serving the Chippewa Valley agricultural, consumer products and commercial businesses. In February 2003 the Chippewa Falls location moved into a new 22,000 square foot facility along highway 53. There are 22 employees at the Chippewa Falls location.
In July 2003 Kohel Power Equipment purchased the former Kuhl Implement John Deere dealer in Granton WI. This location sells the H&S line of hay and forage equipment along with the full line of John Deere equipment. This location employees 10 people with a long history of excellent service to the area.
